Cindy Cabada is an active educator, performer, conductor, and clinician in the greater West Texas region. She received a Bachelor of Music in Education from the University of Texas at El Paso where she studied violin and viola with Professor Laurence Gibson. Cindy has recently returned back to the Socorro Independent school district to take the position as orchestra director at Eastlake in 2019, where she has completed her first year with the Orchestra program and assisting with the Mariachi program.
She also performs with the El Paso Symphony, El Paso Opera, the Sonitus String Quartet, and the band Tribes. She was the charter teacher at El Dorado High School from 2003-2009, where she was the director the El Dorado Symphony Orchestra, the El Dorado Mariachi Program, and IB Music, and also was the director of the Eastwood Orchestra and Mariachi program from 2010-2019. She has held positions at the University of Texas at El Paso and El Paso Community College and was the only female conductor in her 3 years conducting the El Paso Youth String Ensemble (EPYSE) in El Paso, Texas.
She frequently serves as a clinician and presenter in both the orchestra and mariachi realms, and is an active judge and guest conductor for youth orchestras across the region. In 2006, The El Paso Times selected Cindy as one of the 52 most successful people under the age of 40 in El Paso, and she received the Bell Award for music education in 2010.
